Class Description
Objectives of the Programme
The objectives of the Diploma in Graphics and Animation is to produce high quality graduates in the field of graphics and animation, with a good understanding of the media, advertisement industries and sales so as to meet current and emerging industry needs in advertising, media, television and video production. Specifically, the graduates are to have skills and understanding of the following
- Foundational concepts in media and journalism including television journalism
- Marketing, management and Salesmamship
- Graphics and Graphics Processing
- Web Systems
- Computer-Generated Imagery including 3D modeling
- Video/film editing
- Texture Mapping, Animation, Rendering, Compositing, Character Creation, Sound Design, Writing and Editing
REGULATIONS
2.1. Program Duration: The duration of the program is two academic years. Each academic year is made up of two semesters and one recess term. The duration of a semester is seventeen weeks and the duration of a recess term is ten weeks. The last two weeks of a semester are reserved for examinations.
2.2. Admission Requirements: To be admitted for a diploma in Information and Communications Technology, the candidate must:
EITHER (i) Have sat Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and obtained at least three passes in one sitting (ii) Have sat Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and obtained at least one principle pass or two subsidiary passes in one sitting
OR
(i) Have sat Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and obtained at least two subsidiary passes in one sitting (ii) Have passed the first level of a professional course in computing from an internationally recognized professional body
OR
(i) Have sat Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and obtained at least two subsidiary passes in one sitting (ii) Have a Certificate recognized by the National Council for Higher Education
